Yellow and dark clay is a combination that stops you - the brightness of the glaze pulled taut against the near-black of the stoneware body, no softening between them. The yellow is vivid where it sits on the spiked surface, and the tips of the spikes catch the most colour, making the whole form feel charged. No two vessels come out with the same spike arrangement or the same distribution of glaze; some pieces show more dark clay between the spikes, others carry the yellow more fully across the surface.
Handmade from rich black cone 6 midfire stoneware and finished with hand-applied clay spikes that create an expressive, tactile surface. The contrast between the smooth curves of the body and the sharp protrusions is the thing - the dark clay deepens the glaze and casts shadows across every detail. Designed to hold flowers or plants, or stand alone as a decorative object.
