The Design
Inspired by the Oyster Shell
The Oyster Lamp takes its form from the sculptural layers of an oyster shell - organic, rippled, and quietly luminous. The ridged walls catch and diffuse light differently at every angle, casting a warm, textured glow across the room rather than a harsh direct beam.
Each base is shaped by hand while the clay is still soft. No mould, no cast, no two the same. The form has subtle variations in every piece - a slight lean, a ridge that runs a little deeper, a wall that thickens where the clay decided it wanted to. These are not flaws. They're the record of a hand at work.

The Glazes
For Rooms That Are Tired of Beige
Most handmade ceramic lamps come in sand, bone, terracotta, or charcoal. Safe colours for safe rooms. Rhiannon's lamps go somewhere else entirely - layered glazes in peach, purple, green, pink, and blue, brushed on by hand so they pool and bleed into each other in the kiln.
The result is a lamp that reads as a piece of art before it reads as a light source. Something that earns its place on a bedside table or shelf not because it blends in, but because it genuinely doesn't look like anything else in the room.

The Maker

Rhiannon Gill is a self-taught ceramicist working from her coastal studio at Bellambi on the NSW South Coast. Every piece in this collection was made by her hands, in that studio, from start to finish.
There is no team, no mass production line, no outsourced glazing. When you buy one of these pieces, you are buying the direct output of one person's craft.

How They're Made
From Clay to Lamplight
Each lamp starts as a ball of white stoneware clay. Rhiannon hand builds the base form, then shapes and smooths the surface while the clay is still plastic - a process that can't be rushed and can't be repeated exactly.
After drying and a bisque firing, the glaze is applied by brush in multiple layers. Rhiannon mixes her own glazes in the studio, and the layering is what creates the colour depth you see in the finished pieces, the result of thousands of hours of testing and refining.
A final high-temperature firing fuses everything into a dense, durable surface. Each lamp is then wired by a qualified electrician with a white linen cord, wall plug, and switch, and shipped with an energy saving LED E27 bulb - ready to plug in the moment it arrives.
