Cool and deliberate - a blue that settles into the dark clay rather than fighting it, the two tones working together to give the piece a real depth of surface. The blue glaze sits richly in the body of the vessel and catches differently across each spike, shifting in intensity with the light. Because the glaze is applied by hand, each vessel carries its own pattern of coverage - the relationship between blue and dark clay is never quite the same twice.
Handmade from rich black cone 6 midfire stoneware and finished with hand-applied clay spikes that create an expressive, tactile surface. The contrast between the smooth curves of the body and the sharp protrusions is the thing - the dark clay deepens the glaze and casts shadows across every detail. Designed to hold flowers or plants, or stand alone as a decorative object.
