The Oyster lamp takes its form from the rippled, wavy edges of an oyster shell, its top opening in soft ruffled folds around a frosted glass globe. This piece is glazed in Rainbow, a watercolour blend of pink, coral, yellow, blue, green and purple hand-applied over a speckled white clay base. Each glaze is brushed on in layers and left to run and pool, drips reaching the bottom of the lamp, giving a glossy surface with a depth that shifts in the light. No two are ever quite alike.

Offered as a second for a fine crack you'll spot in the photos, an aesthetic quirk rather than a flaw. It takes nothing away from the piece, which remains every bit the showstopper, and simply carries a little more of the story of how it was made.
