Acid green, and not apologising for it. The glaze is thick and glossy, crazed all over with a fine crackle that catches the light, and it runs down the body to stop in an uneven line above the foot, with rounded drips hanging below it. Against the bare white clay underneath, the green looks even brighter. Each vessel takes the glaze differently: some run further down the body, others hold a cleaner line.
Handmade from cone 6 midfire stoneware and finished with hand-placed clay horns that curl out from the body. The contrast is the thing: a soft rounded form, a row of spikes, and a glaze that looks like it is still moving. It is dipped and then brushed, delicate work to get around the horns without losing the line, so no two come out of the kiln quite the same. A keepsake piece for the home, and a practical one: glazed on the inside as well as out, so it can be used as a vase or a planter.
